"Waking up in a cave is something you never forget. I arrived in Göreme and Rovago had booked me a suite carved directly into the soft volcanic rock. The temperature inside is perfect all year round. I spent my first afternoon walking through the Love Valley — the rock formations (fairy chimneys) are genuinely bizarre and beautiful. It feels like stepping into a sci-fi movie. I grabbed a 'testi kebab' (pottery kebab) for dinner and watched the sun set over the jagged horizon."
"The 5am alarm is painful until you step onto the launch field. Floating over Cappadocia in a hot air balloon at sunrise is the most serene experience of my life. I booked my flight through Klook and our pilot was a total pro, dipping us low into the valleys and then rising high for the panorama. Seeing 150 balloons in the air at once is a visual treat you can't find anywhere else. It’s worth every penny and every lost hour of sleep."

"Derinkuyu Underground City is mind-blowing. It's a subterranean metropolis eight stories deep that once housed 20,000 people. I booked a tour through Viator so I could understand how they managed ventilation, stables, and churches all deep underground. If you're claustrophobic, be warned — some tunnels are tight. I used Expedia to compare cave hotels in Uçhisar; the views from there are even better than Göreme."
"The Göreme Open Air Museum is a UNESCO site that once housed a massive monastic community. The 10th-century frescoes in the Dark Church are incredibly well-preserved and detailed. I spent a whole morning there. Rovago suggested heading there right at opening (8:00 AM) to skip the tour bus crowds, and it was the best advice. Having those ancient churches to myself for a few moments felt like traveling back a thousand years. The spiritual energy of the place is palpable."
"I did an ATV tour (Quad bike) through the Rose Valley at sunset. It’s dusty, loud, and incredibly fun. We stopped at a small shack in the middle of the desert that serves fresh pomegranate juice and watched the rocks turn bright orange as the sun dipped. I had my Airalo eSIM active and the 5G signal in the middle of the valley was better than in some European cities. I also made sure my SafetyWing insurance was current before doing any 'adventure' activities."
"My final night was spent at a 'Turkish Night' in a massive cave restaurant. Whirlwind dervishes, folk dancing, and endless trays of meze. Cappadocia is a place that challenges your sense of what's possible in nature. I left with a bag of local wine and a promise to come back in winter when the 'chimneys' are covered in snow. If you're looking for a destination that feels like another planet, this is it. Rovago handled every tiny detail, from the airport shuttle to the balloon prep. Ready to experience it for yourself?
