"Greece is a dream that stays with you. I landed in Athens and Rovago had my ferry connections to the Cyclades ready to go. I spent my first night in Plaka, under the illuminated Acropolis, eating souvlaki and drinking local white wine. I used Expedia to find a hotel with a rooftop view that made the 2500-year-old Parthenon feel like it was right outside my window. The journey from the city to the islands is part of the ritual."

"Santorini is the postcard, but the real soul of the island is found in the villages like Pyrgos. I booked a sunset sailing catamarn through Klook which avoided the crowds at Oia. Seeing the caldera from the water as the sun dips into the Aegean is a top-five life experience. My captain, Yiannis, shared stories of the volcanic eruptions that shaped the island's unique crescent moon profile. Bring a light jacket, even in summer, the wind on the water is real."

"Crete is the wild heart of the Aegean. I rented a car and spent three days exploring the south coast. The Samaria Gorge hike is a must-do — 16km of dramatic canyon that ends at the Libyan Sea. I used Viator to find a guided trek so I didn't have to worry about the logistics of getting back to my car. My Airalo Greece eSIM was a lifesaver for navigating the mountain roads where the signs were only in Greek. Crete rewards the brave."

"The secret island you shouldn't skip: Milos. It has the most diverse and dramatic coastline in all of Greece. I spent a morning at Sarakiniko — a white volcanic rock formation that looks like the surface of the moon — and an afternoon at Kleftiko. I booked a full-day boat tour through Klook to reach the caves where pirates used to hide. The water inside the caves is an electric blue that you have to see to believe. It’s the ultimate Instagram backdrop, but it feels completely ancient."

"Food in Greece is about simplicity and quality. A horiatiki (Greek salad) with real feta, good olive oil, and tomatoes that taste like sunshine is the best lunch you can have for €10. I spent an evening at a local 'taverna' in Naxos where the menu was whatever they caught that day. Roasted octopus and a bottle of local wine cost me next to nothing. Rovago and I mapped out the islands that were best for foodies, and Naxos was the clear winner. Don't leave without trying the local potatoes."

"My final sunset was from the temple of Poseidon at Sounion. As the golden light hit the marble columns and the sea turned a deep purple, I realized that Greece is a place that never leaves you. I made sure my SafetyWing insurance was active, especially for the ferry travel and scooter rentals. It’s a small price to pay for the freedom to explore. I left with a bottle of olive oil, a heart full of light, and a promise to return. If you're planning your trip, start with the islands, but don't forget the mainland. Discover the extraordinary. With Rovago handling the logistics, your next big adventure is just a click away."
