"Morocco is a sensory overload in the best possible way. I landed in Marrakech and Rovago had my entire first 48 hours mapped out within the Medina walls. I checked into a Riad through Expedia that felt like a secret palace. Waking up to the sound of the 'adhan' (call to prayer) and the smell of fresh mint tea is how you begin a Moroccan adventure. The first morning was spent getting 'lost' in the souks, which is the only way to find the best leather workshops."

"The Atlas Mountains provide a dramatic contrast to the heat of the city. I booked a guided trek through the Imlil Valley via Klook. We hiked between Berber villages where life has remained unchanged for centuries. My guide, Ibrahim, explained the traditions of the mountains over a tajine cooked on a charcoal fire. Pro-tip: Bring layers, even if it's 35°C in Marrakech, the mountain air gets crisp fast. The views across Toubkal National Park are genuinely world-class."

"Aït Benhaddou is a UNESCO site that looks like it was built specifically for Hollywood — which it basically was, serving as a set for Gladiator and Game of Thrones. I stayed in a kasbah overlooking the ancient granaries. I used Viator to find a local historian who explained the defensive architecture of these 'ksars'. It’s a photographer's dream at sunset when the red mud walls glow like they're on fire. I made sure my Airalo eSIM was active to navigation the desert roads."

"The Sahara Desert is the heart of any Morocco trip. I spent two nights in a Berber camp in Merzouga, riding camels into the Erg Chebbi dunes for sunset. The silence of the desert at night is something I'll never forget — you can see the Milky Way with total clarity. Rovago helped me find a 'luxury' desert camp with proper beds and a hot shower, which felt like a miracle in the middle of the sand. Waking up at 5am to climb the highest dune for sunrise was the highlight of the entire week."

"Fes is the intellectual and spiritual capital of Morocco. The Medina here is the world's largest car-free urban zone and it is intense. I hired a local guide through Klook to navigate the 9000 alleys. Seeing the Chouara Tannery from above — it’s been operating the same way since the 11th century — is a must. The smell is… memorable, but the peppermint bunch they give you at the entrance helps! Morocco is a country that rewards those who aren't afraid of a little chaos."

"My final stop was Chefchaouen, the 'Blue City'. Every building, every door, every flower pot is painted a different shade of blue. It's calm, artistic, and incredibly beautiful. I spent a whole day just wandering and drinking fresh orange juice. Before I left, I made sure my SafetyWing insurance was active, especially since I was traveling long distances between cities. Morocco is a safe and generous country, but it's always better to be prepared. I left with three carpets, a bag of spices, and a plan to return next year. Inspiration is everywhere. Map your journey with Rovago and step boldly into the unknown."
